Streamlining organization

There is an initiative at ITB to streamline the organization. The plan is to either remove Department or Faculty, so that there's only one level of beurocracy. For what I heard, Departements will dissolve. Their resources will be transferred to faculties (existing and new faculties). This is also a way to empower Faculties.

It's not going to be easy since Departement has been the major workhorse in our campus. Also, for years we have built its image and brand. Many people would not let it go easily.

What do you think? Is it a good idea? Flawed?
